I finished last semester with "A's" in all my classes. Drawing One was the most fun but I learned alot in all my classes. In Art History I studied some of the amazing greats of the past, Michelangelo, Bernini, Da Vinci and up to the impressionist painters. Seeing all of their great work has really made me want to enroll for BCC's study abroad program this summer. Due to the expense I don't think I will be doing it this year, but what a great trip it would be. Principles in Design was taught by Bob Canger. He is the main Graphics Professor at Melbourne BCC campus. This semester I have him for three classes. The homework load this semester seems greater than last semester and I am taking one less course. The classes are much more intense. I keep coming back to illustration. Making a blank piece of paper, canvas or computer screen come to life is such a great feeling. I really am glad to have taken Drawing and Art History last semester. Drawing gave me some more skills and tools and Art History inspired me in many ways. Seeing the works of Master Artists pushes me to keep learning and growing as an artist and helped me to see art from different perspectives and genres. Check out my portfolio page for some new illustrations. School's In! 08/18/2011
Last week my children started school. I have children in daycare, Elementary, Middle and High School this year and I am attending Brevard Community College. So far I have been managing to get everyone to school on time which is a feat for me since I have been habitually late most of my life. Homework has been keeping us all busy. The children like their new teachers and I have been enjoying my time this week at BCC. There are some great teachers out there and I am grateful that we are all fortunate enough to have some of the good ones. I am looking forward to all the new things I am learning especially the math prep class I am taking. I might actually be able to help my kids with their homework. Life is funny. Yes it's true, I confess I watch way too much TV. Lately I have found that the reality shows I usually enjoy are boring. "American Idol", I quit watching halfway through and now "Big Brother" leaves me wondering if I really want to watch. I mean haven't we seen it all before? I am recording the new season of "Design Star". But we will see if that can hold my attention. Lately I have been getting into some of the series on Showtime. I watched a full season of "United States of Tara", a show about a woman with DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). Tara is played by Toni Collette who does an amazing job transforming into all of Tara's other personalities. Then of course there is Showtime's "Dexter", which is about a man who hunts down serial killers and than murders them. I've also watched "Weeds" and "The Big C". I really need to get out more. Today my mom, Bailey, Tommy and I went to the Orlando Science Center. We got tickets for the kids for the guitar clinic since they are both learning to play guitar. My mom and I did not join them at first thinking we needed a ticket to attend. We later realized that the ticket was free and was issued simply to reserve your seat. So we went into the show about half way into it. It seemed kind of thrown together and not planned all that well and there was some technical difficulties. But overall I was entertained. I missed the "clinic" portion of the show but did get to see them jam out some classics with a very talented 11 year old boy named Kei Bland on drums. Well I finally have my website back up and running. I thought it would be a good idea since I am going back to school in a month. If you happen to be reading this and have attended any Graphics programs at BCC leave a comment. Who are the best/worst instructors and why? Do you have any tips? | AuthorMy name is Margaret Carrella.(AKA Margee) I am currently enrolled at BCC (Brevard Community College)
