New Adventures
My name is Margaret Carrella.(AKA Margee) I am currently enrolled at BCC (Brevard Community College) in Melbourne, Florida. I plan to get my AS in Graphics Technology in June of 2013. I am very excited to begin classes this August. With new classes come new assignments which means I will have fresh pieces to add to my portfolio very soon.

Previous Schooling
In June of 2010, I graduated with a 1 year degree in Digital Design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. The classes were challenging yet rewarding. At AIO the classes were a compressed schedule, which meant learning a lot of information in a short amount of time. Taking classes online worked great with my lifestyle raising small children. I worked hard, spent many long nights, and earned a 3.8 GPA. I am very proud of my achievement and hope that my hard work shines through in my portfolio pieces. One of my final classes was "Digital Portfolio", which is how this site came into existence. I hadn't considered designing websites much until that course. Now I feel like that is the direction I would like to pursue for a career.

Team Dynamics
Being around people is comfortable for me because I grew up in a large family with many siblings and extended family. I learned to play well with others at an early age. The saying, "the more the merrier", fits in with my approach to working with a team. People are diverse, and when you bring people together you get more creative solutions to a problem.

Volunteer Work
Over the course of my studies I had an opportunity to do some volunteer work with a local non-profit group, the Yellow Umbrella Child Abuse Prevention Center. They were working on promoting their annual fundraiser and needed help. The main piece I produced for them was a 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” postcard announcing the event. Some other materials I worked on for the project were form letters, tickets, banners and their event website, www.cashbashbrevard.com. It was a great experience and I got to meet some wonderful people. Contributing to my community in a positive way is something I hope to continue to do in the future.
