Corel Painter has many features. A new feature we learned about in class is mosaic tile.

I had fun with this assignment. Corel Painter has so many great tools that can replicate natural mediums like, pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, oil paint, acrylic, etc.
One of my classes this fall was "Creative Computer Media". It required us to use Corel Painter for our assignments. The first assignment was to draw basic shapes and fill with color. I guess I got a little carried away learning to use the different brushes and media. With some practice I think I could really enjoy working in Painter. No messy paints to clean up but you still get that painter quality and texture. Let me know what you think.
Classes have begun! My first assignment was to do a portrait in colored pencil using Corel painter. One of the specs of the assignment was to use lines following the contours of the shapes. We were told they would turn out somewhat werewolf looking. This was my first time using Corel Painter.
These illustrations were part of an assignment for my Videography class at BCC. We needed to use vector illustrations so that we could make the image appear to change size without losing any quality. I need to make some changes to the shadow of the skateboard. I originally had a white background so the shadow made more sense but the black background makes the wheels pop and they fade away on a white background.
I finished last semester with "A's" in all my classes. Drawing One was the most fun but I learned alot in all my classes. In Art History I studied some of the amazing greats of the past, Michelangelo, Bernini, Da Vinci and up to the impressionist painters. Seeing all of their great work has really made me want to enroll for BCC's study abroad program this summer. Due to the expense I don't think I will be doing it this year, but what a great trip it would be.
Principles in Design was taught by Bob Canger. He is the main Graphics Professor at Melbourne BCC campus. This semester I have him for three classes. The homework load this semester seems greater than last semester and I am taking one less course. The classes are much more intense. I keep coming back to illustration. Making a blank piece of paper, canvas or computer screen come to life is such a great feeling. I really am glad to have taken Drawing and Art History last semester. Drawing gave me some more skills and tools and Art History inspired me in many ways. Seeing the works of Master Artists pushes me to keep learning and growing as an artist and helped me to see art from different perspectives and genres. Check out my portfolio page for some new illustrations.
